A lesson is confirmed once it has been charged or paid. The terms below apply to all confirmed lessons:
- Cancellations requested more than 24 hours before the lesson start time: The lesson fee will be automatically returned to you as credit for use against future lessons or services.
- Cancellations requested less than 24 hours before the lesson start time are considered late cancellations and are not refundable as credit. Where appropriate, your tutor will assign catch-up work in place of the lesson, or the student may submit work before the scheduled start time for marking and feedback.
- Reschedules requested less than 24 hours before the lesson start time are treated as late cancellations. The original lesson fee is neither refundable nor transferable, and any new lesson will be charged separately.
- No-shows: If a student has not joined a lesson and no communication to inform of lateness is received from the student or parent within 30 minutes of the lesson’s start time, the lesson will be considered a no-show and treated as a late cancellation.
- Lessons booked within 24 hours of their start time are non-refundable, and any cancellation is treated as a late cancellation.
- Medical notes: The fee for a lesson will be waived when a valid medical note (see full Medical Note Policy) is provided, as long as JTC Education or the tutor is notified before the lesson’s start time and the medical note is provided within 48 hours of the lesson start.
For Regular Weekly Plans, the following also apply:
- Frequent cancellations: Where lessons are consistently missed, with or without sufficient notice, the eligibility for your Regular Weekly Plan may be reviewed in line with our Regular Attendance Policy.
- Cancellations before billing date: Lessons cancelled before their billing date will be removed from the upcoming invoice and will not be charged.
- Holidays and school breaks: Regular weekly lessons continue as scheduled through public holidays, religious holidays, school breaks, and other holiday periods. If you wish to cancel or reschedule, the same terms above apply.
Why upholding this policy matters
As professional tutors dedicated to every student’s progress, our team relies on a stable and full schedule to sustain tutoring as a viable career. Many of us arrange childcare, reorganise personal commitments, and forgo other opportunities to ensure we are consistently available for each student. When a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, it leaves a vacant time slot that we can no longer fill with another student, resulting in a lost working hour.
As after-school hours are particularly limited, every missed session affects not only our schedule but also our ability to accommodate other students who may need that time. By upholding our 24-hour policy, we are able to guarantee the consistency and reliability that our students and families deserve.
Account credit can be returned to the original payment method for a 5% transaction fee in line with our Refund Policy.
Private group lessons follow the Private Groups Terms & Conditions.
