Teaching Experience

Philip began his career as an economist in 1994 after completing his Master’s degree at the University of London. Over the following years, he worked as a Chief Economist, advising organisations through the analysis of economies, markets, businesses, and consumer behaviour. This first-hand experience gives his students a perspective that goes far beyond theory, helping them understand how the concepts they study apply in the real world.

He later completed his PGCE and has since built a successful career teaching Economics at Outstanding-rated schools in the UK. Over the years, both in the classroom and as a professional tutor, he has taught GCSE, A Level, and IB Economics across all major British exam boards.

Today, Philip combines his role as an examiner with that of a professional tutor. His lessons are designed to encourage students to do the work and problem-solving, placing a particular emphasis on analytical thinking, evaluation, and exam technique, providing students with the confidence and skills to achieve top marks.

What families say

Philip has been great for our son who has just finished his GCSE Economics exams. He started with us after average November mock exam results and Philip’s focus on past examination questions ensured our son was ready for the final exams. This was especially so for the longer 6-mark questions that he had struggled to answer fully previously. Philip built a strong rapport with our son which we don’t normally see with other teachers and this was very pleasing. I would highly recommend him to other parents looking for an economics tutor.

Parent of GCSE Student

I highly recommend Philip. He is very knowledgeable and is very thorough with his feedback on essays which has been very useful for my son. He focuses greatly on exam technique and ensured that my son was structuring essays and shorter questions correctly. I am just sorry I didn’t find his details earlier. Thank you so much for all your support!

Parent of A level Student

Having Philip as an A-level Economics teacher was a real privilege. He drew on his years of experience as an economist to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, which made the learning experience both richer and more engaging.
