Hayley holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and Journalism, a PGCE in History and a Master’s in Education with distinction from the University of Sussex. Hayley’s career spans roles as a classroom teacher, assessment leader, resource developer, examiner, and professional tutor, with over a decade of experience teaching History across KS3 to KS5 and in all major exam boards.
It is her unique examiner experience in particular that equips her with invaluable insights into assessment and success criteria, and allows her not only to provide students with a deeper understanding of history, but a structure for how to demonstrate this and gain maximum marks under exam conditions.
Since 2011, Hayley has been passionately dedicated to teaching History, working across a broad spectrum of student abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs such as dyslexia, and is certified in Mental Health First Aid, with a holistic approach to education. As a well-rounded and experienced educator, Hayley brings a wealth of pedagogical expertise and an acute understanding of how to tailor her approach to each individual student in her one-on-one lessons.
Hayley leverages her experience as an examiner to train students to transform their subject knowledge into high-scoring essays. With a range of pedagogical tools tailored to the online setting, she combines her expertise with a genuine enthusiasm for History, inspiring her students not only to achieve academic success but also to gain a deeper appreciation for the subject’s profound significance.
