Bev is a PGCE-qualified Cambridge graduate with over 20 years’ experience in education, including 18 years as a senior examiner and 15 years in the classroom. A former Head of Department, she is a biology all-round specialist who continues to work as a full-time tutor and exam paper writer.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and a Master’s degree in Behavioural Ecology. Combining this strong academic background with her extensive classroom and examining experience, Bev has developed a distinctive teaching style that builds secure foundations and helps students maximise marks under exam conditions.
Bev began tutoring in 2004 and has since worked extensively across all Biology A Level specifications, as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Alongside her tutoring work, she spent many years as a full-time classroom teacher, including in leadership roles as Head of Biology, where she supported both students and colleagues in achieving consistently high standards.
Her extensive examining experience spans four major exam boards (Edexcel, AQA, ETS Europe and OCR), giving her a rare insight into the nuances of each specification and assessment framework. In addition to marking, Bev also works as an official exam paper writer, playing a direct role in designing the assessments that students ultimately sit.
Today, Bev combines her academic background, classroom experience, and senior examining expertise in her role as a professional online tutor with JTC Education. She is deeply committed to helping students be fully prepared and achieve the very best results possible in their final exams.
