Benjamin is an experienced Geographer with a First Class Honours degree in Geography and a distinction in 'MSc in Urban Planning' from LSE. He has maintained a stellar academic record in Geography throughout, with an A* in A Level and 100% perfect score at GCSE-level. The impact of COVID-19 on education pushed Benjamin to pursue an online tutoring style that would inspire students studying geography in school, making them aware of the world around them. He has taught over 3000 online Geography lessons since his graduation and now works exclusively with JTC Education.
Benjamin is well-versed with the specifications and demands of various exam boards, specialising in particular in the human element of geography. He strongly believes that online geography tuition is more effective than in person, enabling the use of split-screen technology with Google Meets and Google Docs to engage students in content revision and essay writing.
Throughout his time tutoring, Benjamin has noted that essay writing and formulating arguments are a struggle for many students, leading him to devise his SECEL (Signpost, Explain, Case Study, Evaluation, Link) paragraph structure for students, which is employed in lessons by focus on essays, and essay planning.
Benjamin believes that geography is an important subject for students in 2023, offering them an enriched understanding of the human and physical processes shaping our ever-changing world: Geography provides insight into relevant global issues and encourages deep thought about practical solutions.
Benjamin has been very supportive in my geography studies! Lessons are very flexible and tailored to topics I don't feel as confident in compared to others, helping me consolidate knowledge. Simply talking about concepts and evaluating points has helped improve my confidence in providing arguments in my essays and getting those AO3 marks. He has helped boost my grades to as high as an A! Great tutor, has really helped boost my confidence when tackling tough exam questions which is a critical skill for geography. Ben Is an excellent tutor, providing revision material and support even outside the lesson time. He answered all my questions in full detail and even helped in areas he was not fully familiar with like the glaciers topic. At GCSE, Geography was my son’s favourite subject. However, at A level, it became his most hated, and in his mock exam he achieved a grade C. Enlisting Ben as his tutor was the best move that we ever made. Ben went over and above in his efforts to help my son and believed in him when his teachers didn’t, always considering him capable of achieving an A*, which my son went on to achieve in his A level exam.
