Anthony’s academic journey took him through two of the world’s most prestigious universities: he earned a BA (Hons) in Economics & Social and Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge, before completing an MPhil in Politics at the University of Oxford. He then trained as a teacher, gaining his PGCE and QTS in Economics and Business Studies, and went on to build a career in education spanning more than two decades.
Across this time, Anthony has held roles as a classroom teacher for IB and A level, Head of Department, examiner, and professional tutor. This blend of elite academic training and diverse professional experience has shaped a distinctive teaching approach: a pedagogical depth that comes from working with students of every level and background, combined with an examiner’s clarity on what secures top marks, and the personal insight of someone who has excelled at the very highest academic level himself.
Over the past 25 years, Anthony’s teaching career has taken him across the globe, with posts in the UK, Japan, China, the Seychelles, and Switzerland—where he taught at a top-performing boarding school (ranked among the world’s top 50 IB schools). This international experience has shaped his ability to adapt to different educational systems and cultural contexts, while always keeping student progress at the centre.
Alongside his classroom teaching, Anthony has held pastoral and leadership roles, including mentoring teams of teachers and leading departments. He has examined for a leading UK exam board at A-Level, experience which gives him a sharp understanding of how marks are awarded, what examiners look for, and the common pitfalls students should avoid. Having taught Economics and Business Studies across every major UK exam board as well as the International Baccalaureate, he brings a comprehensive knowledge of assessment standards and curriculum demands.
Today, Anthony brings his wealth of experience and enduring passion for education to his role as an online professional tutor with JTC Education.
Mr Antony is a great economics teacher. Before he started teaching me, I was struggling with answering the exam questions, particularly the analysis and evaluation objectives. He thoroughly explained the logical “chains of analysis” and “it depends” point needed for exam success. As a result of these, I managed to score a high A.
Mr Anthony helped me in practising a lot of past papers, MCQs and would give me actionable feedback on how to improve my answers. Anthony has been a great teacher for me for my IGCSE & A Level, which has resulted in my excellent results. He will make sure that we are getting feedback on our weaknesses from time to time.
