Why attendance regularity matters
Our regular attendance policy supports fair use of limited after-school, term-time availability. Weekly slots are reserved exclusively for individual students, and regular attendance allows professional tutors, who rely on structured schedules, to manage their working hours sustainably.
For students, it supports strong academic progress by allowing momentum to build, progress to be tracked, and learning plans to be mapped out effectively.
When frequent cancellations may affect your weekly plan
Where ongoing or habitual cancellations of a weekly slot occur (even with sufficient notice), JTC Education reserves the right to review the eligibility of the weekly plan. The thresholds below provide a framework for when this review may take place.
2 out of 4 consecutive term-time lessons cancelled
- First occurrence: we’ll reach out to discuss whether the current weekly arrangement still suits a family’s schedule.
- Second occurrence in the same academic year: the continuation of the weekly plan may no longer be feasible (see “Ending a weekly plan” below).
3 out of 4 consecutive term-time lessons cancelled
- Continuation of the weekly plan may no longer be feasible (see “Ending a weekly plan” below).
The following circumstances do not count toward these thresholds:
- Lessons during national or public holidays, or scheduled holiday periods.
- Rescheduled lessons (subject to a tutor’s availability).
- Lessons cancelled or rescheduled from their regular timing by JTC Education or by the tutor.
- Lessons during Ramadan, where the tutor is unable to offer alternative timing for students observing fasting.
- Medical absences, where a valid medical note is provided.
Ending a weekly plan
Any remaining unused lessons will be refunded as credit for use against future lessons with JTC Education. If a refund to the original payment method is preferred, our standard Refund Policy will apply.
Students are welcome to continue with the same tutor on an ad hoc basis, subject to ad hoc rates. If they later decide to return to a regular weekly schedule, this will be treated as a new arrangement and will depend on the tutor’s availability and the rates applicable at the time.
